Will we ever have baby #2?

Hello all!

We hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas!

I know everyone is wondering if we have had the baby yet and the answer is....NO. After a pre-term labor scare over a month ago, he has decided he is nice and comfortable :)

We go back to the doctor on Monday to schedule the induction if he doesn't decide to come earlier. I am dialated to a 2 as of now, so we are hopeful that I will continue to dialate on my own. We will post more later!

We are in!

Hello everyone! We are indeed in our new house! We moved in on Saturday after everyone in the family had the stomach bug...yuck!

We are enjoying being in our own place. We haven't done a whole lot of unpacking yet, but hopefully that will come in time!

Countdown to baby... only about a week and a half to two weeks until they induce! We are SO excited. Even more excited that we can now get to all of the baby supplies (car seat, crib, etc).

Hopefully we will post more later with pictures- I am not sure which box the camera ended up in...

The Big Move is Coming!

Drew is enjoying his painting adventure at Grandma's house. Maybe we have a future Monet on our hands!!!

It may be a while before our next post because we are getting ready to close on our new house this Friday! We will have Internet shortly after moving in, however we do not have a computer to hook it to. Our laptop is most likely too old and too slow to handle the high speed Internet. We are hopeful that we will have plenty of help moving on Saturday from the young adults in our Sunday school class to assist us since I have been threatened if I even touch a box...
We have tried to finish up all of our Christmas shopping in the event that Caleb decides to come early! We are taking a hospital tour this evening to become familiar with the facilities at Chesapeake General. Time is ticking away! I am visiting the doctor twice a week now until delivery to keep an eye on my health and also doing a non-stress test where I have to sit hooked to a monitor for 30 minutes to monitor my contractions and the babies heart rate. If I haven't gone into labor on my own by around Jan.3rd, they will induce labor. That means only FOUR MORE WEEKS (or less)... we are so excited!
We went to the Oceanfront to see the Christmas lights and Drew absolutely loved them! I hope to post those pictures soon. Drew, Grandpa and Daddy walked around the neighborhood last night to check out all of the lights. Drew calls them "Chrishmash lighs".
We have been busy going to church on Sundays and Wednesdays to the advent services. Drew has been participating in Sunday school, and they are putting on their program this Sunday morning. I am not sure if he will actually "participate" or not, but it is exciting that he is starting to get it. Whenever we see a picture of an older man with a cane, or even see the Christmas candy canes in people's yards he says, "God". It is so precious. He even sings a little bit of jingle bells- "jingle bells, jingle bells all the way". Christmas should be a blast with him this year. We are hoping to be settled enough to at least get one Christmas tree up to put our presents under.
Next week we will celebrate Grandpa's 60th birthday! Shhh... don't tell, there may be some surprises....
Until next time, keep us in your prayers that we have a smooth closing and move, and that Caleb decides to wait on his big arrival until AFTER the move...

Tagged! Twice...

I've been tagged....twice! I'm not sure I can think of 7 random or weird facts but here it goes...

1. In the 4 1/2 years Matthew and me have been married, we have lived in:
  • a tiny apartment
  • a haunted house in Whittier (long story)
  • hotel rooms (while our house was being built)
  • Kathy's house
  • our parents houses
  • bought a house in Sylva
  • sold a house in Sylva
  • my parents house
  • soon to be... a new house in VA Beach

That's a lot of places!

2. I feel like I have been pregnant for the past 3 years of my life! Pregnant in 05', baby in 06' a year off, pregnant again in 08' hopefully baby in 08' or early 09'.

3. I have probably owned more cars than most people.... all since 2003

  • VW Jetta (God rest the V-nasty)
  • Honda Civic
  • Honda Accord 2-Dr
  • Honda CR-V
  • Honda Accord 4-Dr
  • What next you ask? Give me a few more months, I'm sure to have something else....lol

4. While being pregnant with gestational diabetes, I can't eat what I want so instead of craving chocolate (well, I do but can't have it) I crave ICE!!!! I eat ice all of the time!!! So much for the enamel on my teeth.

5. We met a couple (our asst. pastor and his wife) that have our same exact anniversary! June 26, 2004- they were married one hour before us.

6. Weird fact- I sent a text to Ashley to have her ship her breast pump to VA....lol.... I had it until March, we were cleaning out stuff and I took it back to her at Ellison's 2nd birthday- a month later, found out I was pregnant again... Who knew I would have another use for that thing, but who wants to spend $200 for a new one? That package should give the UPS man a laugh...lol

7. Bed rest is not all it's cracked up to be. While I was working, I was constantly in pain and wished I could just have some time to rest. Well, God has a funny sense of humor...after a scare with pre-term labor, I got that rest.... now, I am STIR CRAZY!!!!

I hope you all enjoyed my randomness...

Our house

I promised pictures of our new house and here they are! I already deleted the picture of the outside of the house but it is on the blog already- the white house in the blog below.

Our backyard- which is HUGE for this area, with a nice size storage shed for all the extra "stuff".

This is the master bedroom. The bedrooms are all alike pretty much, all upstairs on the 2nd floor, ours being a little bigger with a nice size walk-in closet.

This picture is standing in the formal dining area looking into the formal living room. We will probably use the extra living area for a play room/office.

This is the kitchen (obviously) :)

This is the living room/family room.
We are very excited about our new house and we will have plenty of room to come visit, so YOU BETTER COME SEE US!!!! We are only 10 minutes from the oceanfront, so what's your excuse?

An emotional day...

What a ride we have had this weekend.... on Saturday evening, I started having contractions that I thought were only 10-15 minutes apart. I called the doctor and he said to come on in to the hospital to get checked out. When I got there and they put me on the monitors, I was contracting every 4-5 minutes...not a good thing. They gave me 2 shots of some kind of medicine to stop contractions and thankfully it worked. We were discharged around 2am, with no restrictions.

Sunday, I took it easy and thought I was feeling better- a little tired, but ok. Around 4am, the contractions returned waking me up and we found ourselves back in the hospital. After this episode, the doctor decided I should be on bedrest. Not TOTALLY restricted, I can move around, shower all that good stuff, but the nurse said to take it easy, no shopping :( or anything that requires me to be on my feet for any period of time.

The good news for this day- we got a house! In the post below, the picture of the white house is our new home! We will meet the home inspector today to make sure all is well, and should close on the house December 12th in time for Christmas- and hopefully before baby! It is amazing how God works things out. It is really ironic though- the day I found out I was pregnant with Caleb was the same day we sold our house in NC. Yesterday, the day I was told to "stay strapped in the bed" as Matthew says, is the day we got a new house!

Keep is in your prayers today as the home inspection takes place- that there will be no hitches, and all will go smoothly! I will post pictures of the inside of the house later.

Momma/baby update

Hello all! I hope you are all staying warm! We have had a cold front this week and it has been COLD!!! The average temps are supposed to still be in the 50's and 60's here, but today we saw snow showers off and on all day long! The teachers at school were going nuts like they had never seen snow before, running out the door during lunch taking pictures with their cellphones. It was hilarious!!! The kids in my class asked me if we were having a blizzard! I was cracking up.

So I went to the doctor yesterday, and they have started me on insulin because my sugar is still too high, despite the fact that I am practically STARVING myself to cut carbs at every corner and have only gained 16 lbs (no weight gain for 4 wks in a row). He wanted to see me back in one week, but that is Thanksgiving Day! The Tuesday after Thanksgiving I will return to the doctor and have another ultrasound. From here on, I have to go to the doctor twice a week to do a non-stress test where they will monitor the baby closely. I have realized through all of this that my body does not like to be pregnant, so more kids you are asking? Not unless Matthew can carry the next one....lol. I am working 1/2 days after Thanksgiving on the days I go to the doctor. Hopefully this will eliminate some of the stress on my body. Keep me and baby "Caleb" (we think) in your prayers until our hopefully uneventful delivery in a few weeks.

It's been a while...

Sorry so long! I knew I would have a hard time keeping up with a blog, but if I can at least post once a month, that's doing good! I have posted some random pictures of things we have been up to since Halloween! All is well here, getting chilly and I am getting bigger!!!! We are ready for this baby to come! The doctor has already said an early induction 1-3 wks early depending on what the next ultrasound has to show... they will do another one in a few weeks to see how big baby boy is, then they will decide how early to take him. My due date is January 17th, so we are looking to have the baby right around New Year's, or earlier.

We have started the house hunt! The following pictures are 2 of the houses we liked.

This is a picture of one of the houses we really liked. It is really big but needs some updating on the inside. It is in Chesapeake, about 2 minutes from my current school, and about 10 minutes (on a good traffic day) to Matthew's work.

This was another house that we really liked. It is move in ready with no upgrades needed. This house is in a community called Ocean Lakes, in Virginia Beach. It is about 10 minutes from the beach, but 20-30 to both my school and Matthew's work. Keep us in your prayers as we continue looking for the right house!

Mommy and Drew smiling after the Wiggles concert in Hampton.

Daddy, Mommy and Drew posing for a picture before the Wiggles concert!

For those of you who do not have small children, you have probably never experienced the Wiggles. They are a group from Australia, and their show comes on Disney every morning at 7:00. Drew watches them everyday. They are a lot of fun! Drew loves their music so we surprised him with tickets to see them in concert! It was a pretty good show! They did a lot of singing and dancing! I think we enjoyed it more than Drew.... as well as the other parents in the audience...

Drew and Daddy posing for a picture at Chili's.

This is a picture of Drew at his daycare Halloween party. We each rolled orange paint on the back of our hands and made a family pumpkin patch! We had a good time!

Drew is enjoying putting the "stems" on his pumpkins with the glue stick.

CHEESE! A picture after his big night of trick-or-treating.

My orange juice!

I hope you enjoyed these pictures of me! I was very busy this past weekend. I dressed up in my first real costume. Mommy and Daddy picked out several outfits for me, but they did not fit my style. They wanted me to be a doggy, then Thomas, but I didn't like those costumes. So on Saturday, they finally got me what I wanted, a football jersey! They didn't have a Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey in my size, so I had to settle for a VA Tech jersey instead. I went to church and enjoyed eating pizza and watching some really awesome Irish dancers before we went trunk or treating. It was raining, so we had to move it inside. I had so much fun! I came home and daddy gave me a piece or two of my candy! I LOVE chocolate! On Sunday, we rode through Williamsburg and saw lots of things! My favorite thing to do right now is play with my trains! I am growing up so fast, mommy and daddy can't believe it! At daycare this week I am having a Halloween party. Trick or Treat!

Happy Fall!

Drew models his new Rainforest Cafe shirt!

Lot's of things have been going on here in Virginia! Week before last, we helped Kaleigh celebrate her 4th birthday! Ben and his two girls came in from California. We had a full house! It was a lot of fun!
Last weekend, Matthew's family came to visit! We had a condo on Sandbridge Beach. The weather on Thursday (and the whole beginning of the week) was in the high 80's. When we woke up in the condo Friday morning, it was cold and rainy.... 50something degrees cold. So no beach weather but regardless, we had a good time! We toured Norfolk and Virginia Beach and ate at the Cheesecake Factory (my favorite) and a nice restaurant on the beach!
I went to the doctor on Friday for my glucose test, and found out on Monday that I failed it yet again... but my blood sugar is much higher this time. Now I get to go and do the lovely 3 hour make you sick to your stomach test to tell me what I already know... that I have gestational diabetes again. The doctor says the baby is already measuring big, so I know that means not getting to eat all the things pregnant women want... carbs, carbs and more carbs, chocolate, salty snacks, pretty much all the stuff I crave!!! I also found out on Monday that the job I was pretty much told was mine, probably won't be. The lady I am subbing for is getting better (which is great for her) but not so great for me. She will most probably be back after Christmas, sometime in January. The principal wants to keep me on board, and said he will try his best. But, I am heading to a job fair in VA Beach tomorrow. So please keep all of this in your prayers.
Drew is doing well, he has lots planned for Halloween, except, he won't wear a costume.. at least the two I have he won't wear, so he may be going as Drew for Halloween.... lol
Until next time, HAPPY FALL!

A recap of the last two weekends

Ava, Drew and Aiden... waiting patiently for lunch.

My how time flies... here is a picture of Drew and Ava from last weekend! Can we go ahead and arrange this marriage???
Our afternoon at the beach! The air temperature was around 80 degrees... but not so much the water... Drew didn't seem to mind the cold water!!!

We went to church and sent Drew to his second week of Sunday School with the "big kids". There are two 2 year olds (including Drew) and a few three year olds. He does a pretty good job sitting still (for the most part) and is learning all sorts of new things!

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Welcome to our new blog! I hope we can keep it updated as much as possible. This picture was taken on Drew's birthday (September 2nd) on his new swing!

We are experiencing our first fall in Chesapeake and so far it has been beautiful! Cool crisp mornings have replaced the hot, sweat dripping mornings! Not much is going on right now, just work and school for us and preparing for our new little boy in a few short months. We still don't have a definite name for him, however Caleb is still in first place.

Drew has been very busy this week. He had a big week at school, learning lots of new things about fall. He had his 2 year old check up this week, weighing in at a big 26.5 lbs (unchanged for about 6-9 months now) but has grown about 2 inches or so since his last checkup! He is 34.5 inches tall! Thankfully, average height, unlike his parents! The pediatrician says he looks great and his development is right on track, his language development however is way beyond his age...

Will post more later, as more fun things are happening with the Chadwicks!

Stepping out into technology...

So this is a scary thing... I am trying to create a blog for the first time... I hope this works! More to come...
